As you can see, there are limit switches at the top, at the
bottom, and between the saws. We use these to prevent the
saw collars from being rammed into the bearings at the top
and bottom and together in the middle. Without these limit
switches there would be a lot of unnecessary wear on the
guide arm bushings and the saw collars from the cocking that
would be created as well as the extra heat that is created
every time the hydraulic system goes over the pressure
relief. The limit switches also play a part in the system
the sawyer uses to clear the saws until he has another log
ready for edging.
